Step 4: Complete the online application. You may complete the application using a smartphone, mobile device, laptop, or desktop computer.
Step 5: Any fees to be paid for FID card and/or handgun permits will be found on the line amount to be paid at collection: Fees are $50.00 for the initial FID card and $25.00 for each permit to purchase a handgun.
The Township of Hamilton Police Department currently accepts cash, check or money order. At this time, we are unable to process credit/debit card payments.

Note that your application will not be processed until the cash/check/money order is received. **This means that the “Payment to the Issuing Police Department” is required to be paid as soon as possible after you submit your application online.

Once your application is complete, an e-mail will be sent to you from New Jersey State Police FARS system with instructions on how to retrieve your FID card and/or handgun purchase permit(s).
Please advise your references that the FARS system will email them the reference questions to be answered. Your references can complete the questions using a smartphone, mobile device, laptop, or desktop computer. Please advise them to complete the questions immediately to progress your background investigation.

The Concealed Carry Permits service allows for online submission of both initial and renewal applications: https://www.njportal.com/NJSP/ConcealedCarry/
Approved applications are due for renewal every two (2) years. Renewal applications can be submitted up to four (4) months before
the expiration date. Concealed Carry Permit applicants need to have been fingerprinted for firearms purposes in New
