Economic Development Overview

From the founding of what is now known as Mays Landing in 1735, the Township of Hamilton has historically been a center of commerce. Hamilton encompasses approximately 114 sq. mi., making it the largest municipality in New Jersey. Although much of the Township is protected under New Jersey Pinelands Commission regulations, our Regional Growth area offers abundant business opportunities. Located in central Atlantic County - approximately 12 miles from Atlantic City - Hamilton is your gateway to one of the fastest growing areas of the State.

Historic Mays Landing, which is located at the intersection of US Route 40 and NJ Route 50, is the county seat and the home of numerous government and professional offices as well as a vibrant main street commercial area with a variety of shops and dining establishments.

Near the eastern edge of the Township the Atlantic City Racetrack/McKee City area has blossomed as a center of commerce. Located where US Routes 40 & 322 merge and accessible to the Atlantic City Expressway, this area hosts over 2.5 million square feet of retail space with room for more!

In between these nodes lies the 690 acre Hamilton Business Park developed by the Township to attract a broad variety of uses, including light manufacturing, professional offices, warehousing, medical facilities, scientific testing, schools and state, county and federal government agencies.

Educational facilities to support your business needs are available in and near Hamilton. The main campus of Atlantic Cape Community College (ACCC), home of the renowned Atlantic Culinary Academy, is located on US Route 322 near Mays Landing and can provide a variety of services for your business including (but not limited to) job training, research and conferencing facilities. The Atlantic County Institute of Technology (ACIT), located in the Hamilton Business Park, provides career training for adult and high school aged students, including 3 full time academies specializing in Culinary & Hospitality Management, Information Technology and Health Sciences & Medicine. Hamilton is also near the campus of the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, which is ranked as one of the top liberal arts colleges in the nation.

With its history, accessibility and amenities the Township of Hamilton is clearly well positioned as the place to grow your business. If you would like additional information about the Township please contact the Director of Community Planning & Economic Development, at (609) 625-1511 ext 490.
