Public Works

The ACUA has started to introduce automated side load trucks to their fleet and are being used here in Hamilton Township for trash collection.  Nothing will change with your scheduled collection day; however, this could mean that your bulk items may not be collected by the same truck that picks up your cart.  In an effort to be more efficient the drivers are reporting bulk at the residence and a different truck will collect the bulk.  Most bulk will still be collected the same day as your trash, some may be picked up the following morning.  We ask that you please keep your trash and recycling carts a minimum of 3 feet apart, so the electronic arm has enough room to pick up the carts properly.  Also, please do not lean your bulk items against the carts, they too should be separate.

This only applies to those that have trash carts, if your community uses dumpsters this will not apply to you.

For more information on trash and recycling please visit our website at www.hamiltonatlnj.gov under the public works tab.  If you have questions, please call our office at 609-625-6311.

SPRING CLEANING AND DISPOSAL!

As the weather warms up, we tend to want to reorganize and clean out our sheds, garages and homes, with that always comes extra trash!  Here are some helpful guidelines for disposal of unwanted items.

Bulk items such as mattresses, couches and wood tables are collected curbside by the ACUA.  You can leave 2 bulk pieces each week next to your trash cart for collection.  Piles of loose items and additional trash bags are not considered bulk trash.

All metal items like old gas grills, refrigerators and exercise equipment can be collected curbside by calling the public works department at 609-625-6311 and getting that scheduled for curbside collection.

Rigid plastic items like old patio chairs and kids play toys can be dropped off at the public works facility, 5500 Atlantic Avenue the first Saturday of every month from 9AM until Noon.  Please call us at 609-625-6311 and we can help you figure out what exactly is rigid plastic.

Electronics items like computers, televisions and printers can also be dropped off at the public works facility, 5500 Atlantic Avenue the first Saturday of every month from 9AM until Noon.

Residential used motor oil (5 gallons or less per month) and up to 4 tires (without rims) per month can be dropped off daily at the public works facility, 5500 Atlantic Avenue from 7am until 2pm.

WE DO NOT ACCEPT THE FOLLOWING AT THE CURB OR AT THE PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY!

Paint, stains or thinners.

Any fluids / solvents other than used motor oil.

Aerosol cans

Propane tanks

Fire Extinguishers

Helium tanks

Oil tanks

Compressed gas/oxygen tanks

Construction Debris

Fencing

If you have other items that are not mentioned please call our office at 609-625-6311 and we will help you with proper disposal.  The ACUA offers free hazardous waste days to dispose of most of the listed items, please do not leave unauthorized items at the public works facility which is monitored with cameras or elsewhere as it will be considered illegal dumping, all violators will be fined accordingly.
